KB1116 - Using the Sharing Cart to Copy Between Courses
Posted by Blair Friesen, Last modified by John Love on 05 July 2016 11:28 AM

Using the Sharing Cart plugin, you can now easily copy any of your course resources or activities from one course to another, without doing a backup and restore.

To do this, the Sharing Cart BLOCK must be added to both the originating (Course A) and the receiving (Course B) course.

Follow these steps to copy a resource or activity from Course A to Course B:

In Course A,

  1. be sure your editing is turned on.
  2. from the Add a Block block, choose Sharing Cart.  Tip: if you don't see it on the list, that's a sign that it's already been added to the course.
  3. view the Edit menu of the activity or resource you wish to copy.
  4. click on the Copy to Sharing Cart option.
  5. check the Sharing Cart to ensure your activity or resource has been copied.

  3. find the activity or resource you copied from Course A, on the list of items in your Sharing Cart block.
  4. click on the copy to course icon beside the item you want to copy to Course B.
  5. locate the destination topic where you wish to copy the item and click on the Copy Here icon located at the bottom of that topic.

  6. check to ensure your item was copied. Tip: the item remains in your Sharing Cart, so you can easily make multiple copies.

Items remain in your sharing cart until you delete them.  You can also create folders to group your items.

More information on how to use the Sharing Cart can be found in Moodle docs or by clicking on the help (?) icon on the block's menu.
