KB1151 - Adding a link to a course page
Posted by Blair Friesen, Last modified by John Love on 17 July 2017 10:41 AM

It's recommended  that you open up hyperlinks to other sites in pop-up windows.
This is so your students don't lose the location of your Moodle course from their browser window, or close it accidentally.

Here's how to add an Internet link (a.k.a. hyperlink or URL) to your course page which will open up in a pop-window:

  1. From the topic where you wish to add the link, click on Add a Resource, and chose URL.
  2. Give your link a name in the Name field.
  3. Paste the URL into the External URL field.
  4. Click on Appearance, to open up the available options.
  5. Change the Display option from Automatic to In Popup, so that it opens a new window and doesn't lead the student away from your course.
  6. Click on Save and Return to Course.
  7. Check your link to make sure it functions as expected.
