KB1064 - How can I view what the students are seeing in my course?

To view what the students are seeing in your course, temporarily switch your role to Student.

  1. From the main page of the course, click on “Switch role to...” under the Settings Block.
  2. Choose "Student."
  3. Navigate your course to see how things look and act for a student.
  4. When you're finished, you can return to your normal role either by clicking again in the Settings block, or using the link in the top right-hand corner of your page, beside your login name.

NOTE: When viewing things under an assumed role, some things may not appear *exactly* as they would if you were logged in as an actual student. This is because Moodle doesn't know who you are.  If your course uses groups and groupings, then Moodle doesn't know which group you belong to.  Also, if you complete quizzes or assignments, your grade will not be recorded, as it cannot be associated to a particular student.

Alternatively, if you have your own VCC student account, you could login as that account and enrol in your own course. Your student account login name would be your employee/student ID, and the password would be your birthdate in the form MMDDYY.
